This book is a huge step up from the basic gnome, simple animals and landscape instructions. With the techniques taught you can produce something that's more refined, detailed and elegant. There are lots of illustrations and instructions, a wide variety of project ideas, and all the projects are simply gorgeous. I also didn't expect to get a cloth bound book for this price. That does make it difficult to keep it open but it shows an attention to quality. I look forward to spending a lot of time using this book as a resource.
This book is beautiful! It’s binding, cover, and inside photos are stunning. It’s a hardcover book with exceptional quality, from lovely page weight to outstanding editing. When I hold it and flip through its pages, I can feel it was truly a work of love and creative passion. But all that is just the surface. To make it more valuable, the projects are not just enchanting and inspiring, but superbly thought out! The author-artist starts with basic skill lessons and each project shows a new technique so that it takes the reader from introducing 2d (flat) needle felting, aka wool painting, to seriously advanced work. But the instructions are so logical and easy to follow that you are doing advanced techniques almost naturally. I also love that the writing is concise. No wasted words, and super valuable in an art or craft book...you don’t have pages and pages of explanation. Ms. Ives intuitively knew the right amount of explanation to teach, along with lovely, detailed step by step photos. All combined, this book is very easy to follow, and makes it simple for anyone of any skill level to follow. I’m an experienced 3d sculptural needle felt artist, and when I saw Ms. Ives’ realistic work, I passionately wanted to learn 2d wool painting...and thanks to her generous nature of sharing her techniques in this book, I’m excited about my new passion! As you can tell, I highly recommend this book!
Dani is such a skilled artist in her own right, and I love that she shares her method. I was very excited about this book and it did not disappoint. Those of us with experience in other fiber arts can skim over introductory sections and go directly to the techniques and projects. The projects are tasteful and inspiring, and I look forward to attempting some of them! The hardcover book is also beautifully produced, with a matte image and a cloth binding. Lovely experience all around!
Dani Ives has created a great book for beginners as well as advance needle felters. Her techniques can be used to adapt to any project you choose. All of the illustrations are well done. I highly recommend this to all needle felters. The projects she has done and illustrated are all very interesting-such a broad range of techniques. Good job.
Great book. A must have for any felter. It's great to see a new book published on felting. They are few and far between and greatly needed. Thank you Dani Ives for your book, Painting with Wool. It is a very educational and fun book added to my favorite list. I greatly recommend this book to all levels of felters. It is a must have for your library.
A really beautiful book for all skill levels. I have been needle felting for over 10 years and still learned lots from this. The projects are simple but beautiful and intended to increase skill level. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in needle felting.
I really love this book! Very detailed instructions and amazing pictures loads of beginner tips and very easy to follow. As someone unable to make it to her workshops this book Is just a delight. Can’t wait toget started.
This book is simply beautiful. The inside of the front and back cover has a softly transitioning rainbow that leads you in to the first pages. The instructions and supply information is detailed and easy to understand and the projects are all ones I can’t wait to start once life calms down a little. I pre ordered this book as soon as I knew Dani was releasing it and I am so glad I did. It is wonderful!
