This book gives you a better understanding of how to code Java. It is for beginners like myself and is very easy to understand. The book is nice and compact, so it in not to heavy in my bookbag after a long day at school.I personally really liked using this book to help me code because I wasn't completely understanding it all at first, but this book helped me by breaking things down for me and walking me through the process. Even if you're not a beginner though, I've noticed this book has a few tricks and loopholes to make some assignments easier and shorter to work on. Over all, I'm am not a huge fan of coding, but this book made it enjoyable.
Great for learning java, this book was used for a Computer Science 100 level course. There are many great example programs to learn, and plenty of through explanations of key concepts. Beware of GUIs, the college I was at used JavaFX so this book was no help. If your school uses Swing, then this book is great all around.
I bought this for my son to use as a required book. It served the purpose, but it was expensive...I guess most text books are...
I used this to learn Java a few semesters ago in college, and bought it again because I lost my old textbook to refresh myself. Really helpful code snippets and really straightforward explanations for things. If you want to learn how to code Java, I recommend this book.
This was the textbook for both my Java I and Advanced Java college online classes. Pretty good for a textbook but would still suggest the Head First books for people learning Java on their own.
